0:13.2	Today God sends Jeremiah on a little field trip.
0:16.5	He has him stop in where a potter is making jars.
0:19.5	As the potter is shaping one of them, things get a little wonky with it and he reshapes
0:23.4	it into something new.
0:25.0	Same lump of clay, different outcome.
0:27.8	Then God tells Jeremiah,
0:28.9	here's the message I want you to take away from this.
0:31.7	I'm the potter, the people are clay.
0:34.0	I can do whatever I want with them.
0:37.4	Let Jerusalem know that because of their evil, my plan for them involves disaster.
0:41.9	Then, call them to repent.
0:44.7	But just a reminder before you do all this, they are not going to repent.
0:48.0	They're going to keep doing whatever they want, making their own plans and following
0:51.3	their own hearts.
0:52.3	They've forgotten me.
0:54.8	I can almost hear the heartache in God's voice when He says the last part.
0:58.8	My people have forgotten me.
1:01.4	What's also interesting about this metaphor is how obviously engaged the potter is with
1:05.8	the clay.
1:07.1	This isn't a computerized assembly line.
1:09.4	This is hands-on creative work.
