0:00.0	Hey Bible readers, I'm Tara Lee Cobble, and I'm your host for the Bible Recap.
0:13.1	Today we finished our 24th book of the Bible, it's written by a minor prophet Zephaniah
0:18.5	who is the great, great grandson of Judah's King Hezekiah, and because he's a descendant
0:23.7	of the king, that actually makes him a distant relative of King Josiah, who is the king
0:28.7	during the time that Zephaniah is writing this book.
0:31.6	You may remember King Josiah from yesterday, he's the king who sought God and his ways
0:35.8	and turned the places of idle worship into graveyard.
0:39.4	If there's one thing we can say about Zephaniah, it's that he does not hold back.
0:44.0	Right out of the gate in chapter 1 verse 2, he starts out with destruction.
0:48.5	He warns Judah about God's coming judgment in much the same way Isaiah did.
0:53.8	He calls them out for the ways they've mingled their worship of Yahweh with the worship
0:57.4	of false gods.
0:59.0	Anytime they felt God wasn't coming through for them, they didn't actually seek him
1:02.4	or pray about things they sought help from idols instead.
1:06.5	Hezekiah warns them that the day of God's judgment is coming.
1:10.4	God promises to punish not only those who are blatantly wicked and idolaters, but according
1:15.0	to 1-12, he promises judgment on the complacent too, those who are inattentive and inactive.
1:22.0	Interestingly, it seems like their passivity stems from a belief that God is
1:27.2	passive.
1:28.2	They think God won't really do anything about their actions, so they carelessly live
1:32.4	their lukewarm lives.
1:34.4	If you know someone who is a deist, this is a lot like what they believe.
