0:07.0	Today we finished our 21st book of the Bible.
0:15.8	Jose continues today to prophesy to God's people and he reminds them that there are
0:20.7	consequences for their sins.
0:22.6	Their hearts have wandered far from God,
0:24.5	and it doesn't just show up in their religious practices.
0:27.3	It shows up in their autonomous choice of leaders
0:30.2	and how they don't consult God about those decisions.
0:33.0	It shows up in the way they look to other nations for help and pay tribute to pagans
0:37.0	instead of trusting in God for their needs.
0:40.0	Our relationship with God isn't isolated to where we spend our Sunday mornings.
0:44.0	Nearness to God impacts every area of our lives, and so does turning away from him.
0:50.5	They tried to solve the problem by becoming more religious, but they were just
0:55.0	adding false gods and pagan altars into the mix instead of turning to Yahweh.

1:11.0	Then a bunch of the leaders of Geba kidnapped her, raped her, beat
1:15.3	her, and left her for dead. God is saying that Israel as a whole has acted that way.
1:21.8	Imagine a whole nation of people who just do whatever they want
1:25.1	to please themselves, harm others in the process, and feel no remorse. And you may
1:30.8	recall that the wicked actions of those leaders in the tribe of Benjamin led to a major rift among the tribes.
