0:07.0	Okay Bible readers, it's time for our weekly check-in.
0:16.4	We've read a lot of new names, new places, and strangely worded prophecies this week,
0:21.2	so I just want to remind you, there will not be a quiz.
0:24.4	If you were to tell me the name of a king and ask me which kingdom he ruled over, there'd
0:27.4	be a good chance I'd have to guess.
0:30.0	This is just your weekly reminder that understanding all these details on your first or
0:35.1	50th pass through scripture is in the point.
0:37.8	The point is, what are you learning about God and His character?
0:41.4	Are you seeing more of Him?
0:42.7	Are you delighting in Him more?
0:44.8	If so, thank Him, and if not ask Him for help, He can open your eyes and He can change your heart.
0:51.7	But Jehovah has not so much, whoever that is.
0:55.4	Today, we're back in the narrative section of scripture in a time that overlaps with the prophecies we're reading.
1:01.6	These prophecies are being delivered during this time frame and many, but not all of them are being fulfilled during this time frame as well.
1:08.4	Another portion of the prophecies were fulfilled after this time period, like the birth of the Messiah, for instance,
1:15.4	and some have yet to be fulfilled, like the Messiah coming back to reign in peace on the new earth.
1:22.3	For today, though, we're stuck in the final days of the Kingdom of Judah.
1:26.5	They have a new king, Ahaz, and he's horrible, honestly.
1:30.8	He's acted more like a northern king than a southern king,
1:33.9	building idols of his own and even initiating child sacrifices,
1:38.1	which is exactly what the Canaanites who were in the Promised Land before the Israelites were doing,
