0:13.2	Today we finished our 19th book of the Bible.
0:16.3	Congratulations!
0:17.3	Alright, let's wrap up the back half of Amos.
0:20.4	He starts by calling out the leaders of the land who relax into lives of luxury and
0:25.1	pay no mind to the needy and poor and who fail to notice that they've gotten so far
0:29.7	off track in their relationship with God.
0:32.5	He promises destruction for all the ways they forsaken God.
0:36.6	In chapter 7, God shows Amos three different images and they all foretell destruction.
0:42.2	Twice Amos pleads with God to relent and he does.
0:46.5	Remember how the Prophet Jonah didn't want the people of Nineveh to repent and God pointed
0:50.4	out how ridiculous that was?
0:53.0	Amos is the opposite of Jonah.
0:55.0	He begs God to stay his hand.
0:57.2	But when the third vision appears, Amos starts to get the point that this is inevitable,
1:02.4	a necessary part of God's process to turn his people's hearts back to himself.
1:07.8	The first vision was of locust eating a field and devouring all the farmer had to live
1:12.1	on after he'd paid the king with the first portion of growth.
1:16.2	The second was of a fire devouring everything.
1:19.4	And while both of those visions involved land, the third vision is a construction image.
1:25.1	Amos sees a plum line, which is a tool used to make sure a wall is straight.
1:30.1	It's like a level but vertical instead of horizontal.
