Day 163 of Heart Dive 365. I'm your Bible study friend Kanoi. Welcome to the Heart Dive podcast.

0:12.8

Well, yesterday we got to see the building of Solomon's Temple today focusing on the building of his house or his palace.

0:18.9

We are in 1st, Kings chapter 7, Second Chronicles

0:22.8

chapter 3. Reading from the ESV by Crossway translation. Let's go ahead and pray and get started.

0:28.6

Our Father who are in heaven, hallow would be your name. Your kingdom come and your will be done

0:32.7

on earth as it is in heaven. So as we sit here today, Lord, humbling our hearts before you,

0:38.4

we just stand in all of who you are, of your greatness, your majesty, and we just thank you, Lord,

0:43.4

for allowing us to have this time carved out in our day, to be able to come and read your word,

0:48.9

to receive the manna, to hear from you, our Holy Spirit. We thank you, Lord, for every brother and sister that might be tuning in, God, to be able to seek your face and to know you more. And I just pray, Lord, that you will bless them and that your presence will dwell among them. Let them know that you are with them. Open up all of our eyes, our ears, and our hearts to be able to hear you, to see you, to receive from you today. Forgive us of our sins. We just ask that you please wash us clean today, purify our hearts, clean our hands, oh God. And if there's anything that we need to go and make right in order to be able to be free before you today, I pray that we will just lay this down right now at the altar, go and make it right if we have the ability to do so and come back so that we can be at peace. Lord, forgive us for our sins, anything that we have done that has grieved your heart and help us to also forgive those who have sinned against us. Please do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and power and glory forever. We love you in Jesus' name. Amen. Okay, we're going to go ahead and get

1:45.0

started here, chapter 7, verse 1. Solomon was building his own house 13 years, and he finished his

1:51.9

entire house. So remember that the temple took seven years, so his house, he's taking 13 years to build.

1:57.8

And it's kind of easy to jump to a quick commentary about how it took Solomon

2:01.8

almost twice as long to build his own house and to try to say that that was because his house was

2:07.3

way more extravagant than the temple. And, you know, that was his priority at the time. And I don't know

2:12.7

if that is true or not. But what if we just look at it as if he took half the time to build the temple simply because

2:20.0

there was more of an urgency to finish the work of the Lord and his house was lower on the priority

2:25.5

list? But either way, it at least gets us to look at our own lives and ask ourselves in this

2:31.0

heart check. What are you spending more time on? Building your temple,

2:36.2

meaning worship, devotion, character building, serving, being generous, et cetera, or building

2:42.3

your house, meaning your career, your work, your wealth, vacations, recreation, self-serving

2:48.2

dreams. And of course, need to side note that those things are not bad.

2:52.2

So please do not think that that's what I'm saying. But the question is really about where they
