0:12.9	Today, Solomon opens by talking to us about how to walk in wisdom to avoid sin.
0:18.0	It seems to involve a lot of careful attention and thoughtful planning. It doesn't
0:22.2	happen by accident. In chapter 22, he uses a lot of phrases like, the prudence sees danger and hides
0:29.1	himself, and guard your soul and apply your heart, and encourages parents to train up their children
0:35.9	with wisdom. Verse five specifically says,
0:39.4	Thorns and snares are in the way of the crooked.
0:41.7	Whoever guards his soul will keep far from them.
0:45.6	Solomon encourages us to take care to steer clear of things that will ensnare us.
0:50.3	It makes me want to be mindful of what things take my eyes and affections off God.
0:54.8	What derails me? What traps do I fall into?
0:58.2	Speaking of traps, verse 14 jumped out at me too.
1:02.0	It says, the mouth of forbidden women is a deep pit.
1:05.8	He with whom the Lord is angry will fall into it.
1:09.2	The phrase, he with whom the Lord is angry caught my attention,
1:12.8	so I spent a few minutes looking into that. The deeper meaning of the phrase is something closer to
1:17.6	he who is cursed of the Lord, which would, of course, be the person who is not in relationship
1:23.2	with God. And again, it's important to remember that these little wisdom nuggets aren't promises or
1:27.8	prophecy. This isn't saying God lures people into adultery. This is Solomon's way of reminding people
1:34.2	again to steer clear of the things that are adultery adjacent because it's a trap for anyone,
1:39.2	but it's especially not suited for people who know and love God. In Chapter 23, Solomon, who was one of the wealthiest men of all time, tells us something
1:48.7	only a wealthy man could know by experience.
