0:00.0 | Hey Bible readers, I'm Tara Lee Cobble and I'm your host for The Bible Recap. |
0:07.0 | Today we finished our 12th book of the Bible. |
0:15.1 | Congratulations! Today David continues making preparations for the first temple |
0:20.4 | to be built and even though this is God's house and David's doing the |
0:24.0 | planning it's commonly referred to as Solomon's temple since he's the one who |
0:28.1 | actually built it. We start out with the gatekeepers. This is an incredibly important role. They are Jerusalem's first line of defense against attack, so these men need to be agile and vigilant. |

1:15.0 | I don't expect that to stand a chance against him. |
1:18.0 | David also sets up treasures for the temple. |
1:21.0 | They aren't just in charge of money, they're in charge of any gifts dedicated to God or even the spoils of war. |
1:26.3 | I'm so curious what kind of spoils they got. I bet if you had this role it would be really tempting to bring your friends in after hours and be like, |
1:34.4 | hey, you want to see the crown we got from the Ammonite king? |
1:37.0 | And over here are the crescent ornaments getting and took from the Midianites. |
1:40.4 | That's probably against the rules. |
1:48.0 | David has his own treasurer's too, as well as his own gardeners and farmers and vinekeepers and shepherds, and I bet the shepherds are his favorite. |
