Summary

When we show devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, we fulfill her prophecy that “all generations will call me blessed.” The Catechism clearly shows us how such devotion does not compete with devotion to God, but in fact fosters adoration of God. Fr. Mike declares that the better we know Mary, the better we know Jesus, and the more we love Mary, the more we love Jesus. Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 971-975.

0:55.2	essentially two paragraphs, 971 and 972. And then we have three bullets, three nuggets of in
1:02.1	brief from 973 to 975. So, you know, we started yesterday talking about what is Mary's
1:07.9	motherhood with regard to the church? And so we recognize that Mary is
1:11.6	wholly united with her son, that from the very beginning, when Mary consented at the
1:15.6	enunciation to the incarnation, and all the way through his ministry, all the way to the foot of
1:20.4	the cross, even through Pentecost, where here's Mary interceding with and on behalf of
1:25.5	the church that Mary has, not only is she the mother of Christ
1:29.7	and the mother of God she's also the mother of the church we talked about this yesterday how
1:33.8	from the cross Jesus Christ gave her to the beloved disciple and in particular in history that is
1:40.0	John the beloved disciple but spiritually speaking in moment, he also gave his mother to
1:45.3	be our mother as well. So today, we're looking at this devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary,
1:49.0	just one paragraph in 971. So what does that devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary?
1:54.0	It completely makes sense because even in Scripture, Scripture declares, all generations will call
1:59.9	me blessed, or all generations will call me blessed, or all generations
2:01.4	will call me blessed, however you say that word.
2:03.7	And I love this line.
2:05.3	It says, the church's devotion to the blessed virgin is intrinsic to Christian worship.
