0:13.4	Our first chapter for today, Psalm 65, was probably written as praise for a feast or harvest
0:19.0	time.
0:20.0	David starts out by saying praise is due to God in Zion, which as you may recall is another
0:24.9	way of referring to Jerusalem.
0:27.1	As Mount Zion is the highest peak in Jerusalem, the two names are often used interchangeably.
0:32.9	And they're also both used to refer to the nation and the people of Israel as a whole.
0:38.0	I love this Psalm.
0:39.5	Every line is so rich and dense.
0:41.9	I think there's something really beautiful about the way David lays out verse 3.
0:46.0	It says,
0:47.0	When iniquities prevail against me, you atone for our transgressions.
0:52.2	David's iniquities are stronger than his ability to rescue himself.
0:55.4	They prevail against him.
0:57.6	He knows he needs God's rescue and he praises God for making atonement for his sins.
1:02.8	David goes on praising God for the fact that he's the hope and joy of his people, his
1:06.9	the creator and sustainer of all things.
1:09.4	And as they're harvesting the crops, David sees the abundance God has given in this year.
1:14.8	David praises God's abundant provision in verse 11 when he says,
1:19.2	You crown the year with your bounty.
1:22.3	In Psalm 66,
1:24.1	David praises God for the ways he triumphs over his enemies and for protecting his people.
