0:07.0	At this point, you may be wondering if Chronicles is only genealogies.
0:17.0	Don't worry, it's not.
0:18.6	We've only got one more day of those coming up and that day's reading also jumps into
0:21.9	the narrative part of the book.
0:23.0	So this is our last day of straight genealogies.
0:26.0	In First Chronicles, that is.
0:28.0	I want to fulfill a promise I made to you a few days ago.
0:30.0	I promised to tell you the purpose of all these genealogies. I didn't want to
0:34.6	spoil it for those of you who haven't heard this story before, but if you were paying close
0:38.4	attention to today's reading, you picked up on part of the story that gives it away.
0:43.0	V. 15 says,
0:44.8	Jehosadak went into exile
0:47.2	when the Lord sent Judah and Jerusalem into exile
0:50.7	by the hand of Nebuchinezer. So the spoiler that may come as no surprise is
0:55.1	that Israel doesn't keep the covenant and God eventually raises up an enemy to
0:59.4	carry them off into exile, back out of the promised land.
1:04.0	But don't worry, God's not casting them all forever.
1:06.8	Remember that he's already told us that this is how things will go,
1:09.5	and he says it's all part of his plan
1:11.0	to bring them to repentance and to restore all things.
1:14.6	So they're in exile for a long time.
