0:13.1	Today we started our 11th book of the Bible and we're 30% of the way through.
0:17.0	Can you believe it?
0:18.7	Let's jump into 2 Samuel.
0:21.0	Israel is going through a tough time.
0:22.9	First their prophet Samuel died.
0:24.8	Then their first king and three of his sons died in a battle where they also lost a lot
0:28.7	of land to one of their fiercest enemies.
0:31.1	Fortunately, it seems like some people have heard the news that Samuel had appointed
0:34.7	the next king before he died.
0:36.4	So there's a rough idea of what will happen next, but there's no precedent for this
0:39.8	and no specific plan in place for how to move things forward.
0:43.8	They're building the plane while flying it, so to speak.
0:46.8	Meanwhile David has been living at his refugee home in Felistia and he's just defeated
0:50.7	the Amalakites.
0:52.0	So to make sure we have it all straight, we've just gone through two simultaneous battles.
0:56.8	The Battle of Israel and Saul against the Philistines, which Israel lost, and the Battle of David
1:02.0	in Felistia against the Amalakites, which David won.
