This is day 10. Today we'll be reading part 2 instructions for elevating the soul to God through prayer and the sacraments,

chapters 13 and 14, pages 141 through 149 in the ascension edition of the book. Before we get into the reading though

let's take a quick look at what we'll be covering today. One of the greatest things about

St Francis's instructions on prayer is that he recognizes

the reality that we're all busy. The devout life, as we've already talked about, isn't

reserved just for the spiritual elites, the priests, the religious

monks, nuns, those types of people, but is on offer for all of us, for all of us Christians.

And because the offer is for all Christians the devout life our life of prayer in

particular that's what we're talking about looks different according to our states in life

whether we are a priest or religious, whether we're married, single, old, young,
