So thank you for your patience and waiting for today's video to come out. We are studying five chapters today in 1st Samuel, chapters 4 through 8. Heavenly Father, thank you for this day. Thank you for this family. Thank you for this time. And just for this divine appointment that you have made, that you've put on our calendar, on our hearts, God, to come here today and to open up your word. As we crack it open today, Lord, I pray that you will breathe upon it so that it can move into our hearts and deep down into our spirits. Will you open up our eyes, ears, and hearts to be able to hear from you today, to see you clearly, and to be able to read this word accurately, Lord. Please forgive us of our sins. I just ask that you will cleanse our hearts right now, Lord, and ask that they will be pure today.

Forgive us where we have sinned.

And I just ask that you reveal anything to us that we may not be aware of, Lord.

Continue to work on us from the inside out.

We want you, Lord, to be able to bring our character in line with yours so that we are a beautiful

reflection of who you are and what you desire for us to be.

We don't ever want to be people who are projecting any sort of negativity on anyone,

but we just want to be those who are able to help get others set free.

That is our goal, that is our purpose, because where the Spirit of the Lord is, that is where freedom lies. And so you are here with us. You are living within us. And so we want other people to be able to have that freedom as well. So we love you. Thank you for this time. In Jesus' name. Amen. So we left off yesterday with Samuel being put into his role and he grew up. So here we are. Now he is officially a prophet.

Verse 1, chapter 4. And the word of Samuel came to all of Israel. Now Israel went out to battle against

the Philistines. They encamped at Ebenezer, which means stone of help. This will be named

later on in chapter 7. And the Philistines encamped at Afec. Afec was a strategic border

city. Now, the Philistines are migrant peoples. They originally come from Crete. There was no ruling

power at this time. So no Egypt, no Rome, nothing like that. So Israel is just having to fight people

around them. And they were known as the sea

peoples. And again, they were so good at iron smelting. So they had chariots. They had really good
