Day 70 of Heart Dive 365. I'm your Bible study friend Kenoy. Welcome to the Heart Dive podcast.

New day, new you, I mean new book of the Bible. Today we are beginning Moses's farewell speech in the book of Deuteronomy, and if at any time you feel

bored or like this reading is dry, don't forget that it was from this book that Jesus quoted

when he was tempted in the wilderness by the devil. So if Jesus saw the value in studying the book

of Deuteronomy, so should we. And as always, we'll be reading

But let's all go ahead and pray and prepare our hearts before we jump into it. Heavenly Father, thank you so much for this day. Thank you for this community. Thank you for this space and this time, that we get to carve out and come together to be able to read your word, to get to know you a little bit better and a little bit more. So I pray that you will open up our hearts.

I pray that there will be no distraction.

I pray that there will be no hindrances of unbelief or irritation whenever we have to read things

again, Lord, that we've already heard.

May we not look at it as a repetition, but as a reminder from you in your heart.

Anytime you repeat something, we know, Lord, it is of importance.

So I pray that we will see that today in this word that we read.

Forgive us of our sins, Lord, I pray that we'll have a clean slate today

so that you are able to paint the word on our hearts in such a beautiful way.

We want this word to be woven into

the tapestry of who we are. And so I just pray that that happens beginning today. I pray that we will

have an increase in grace and mercy and forgiveness unto others as well. This is our daily manna. And so I

just pray that we grow in maturity today as we take it in, as we allow it to nourish our spirits and nourish our hearts. And I pray that we walk away from this time together satiated and satisfied. We love you so much. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. So this word Deuteronomy actually comes from the Greek language. The word Deutero means second. Nomos means law. So this is what we call the second law.

Now, of course, this is not the second law. It's actually a repetition of the first covenant,

the first law that God had given to the people. The Hebrew word of this book would actually be

De Beira, which comes from this first sentence of these are the words. So it's the word of God being spoken once again to this second generation.
