0:00.0	Hey Bible readers, I'm Tara Lee Cobble and I'm your host for the Bible Recap.
0:07.0	Today we got to read a Psalm. I bet you love that. Since we're working through the
0:17.4	Bible chronologically, we'll mostly have the Psalm sprinkled throughout our
0:20.8	reading where they've been written as a response to what's happening at the time.
0:24.0	You may have noticed that Moses was the author of this particular Psalm.
0:28.0	This is the only Psalm he wrote.
0:30.0	But before we get to that, let's talk about the situation he wrote it about.
0:34.0	Today in numbers the people are responding to the reports of the 10 spies who argued that they couldn't take the land of Canaan.
0:40.0	This was a mess, you guys. Because these 10 leaders were fearful, the whole
0:44.8	camp is thrown into chaos. The people tried to usurp God's authority by
0:48.7	choosing a leader other than the one God had appointed and by going where God wasn't leading, back to Egypt.
0:55.2	This idea of going back to Egypt isn't just a theme for them.
0:58.1	It becomes a biblical metaphor for doubting God, turning away from Him, and living into ourselves.
1:04.1	As for the Israelites, their doubt has turned to fear, which prompted a rebellion.
1:08.9	If you don't bring your doubt to God, like we've seen Moses do repeatedly, your doubt will drive you from God.
1:16.6	So Moses and Aaron fall on their faces, Joshua and Caleb tear their clothes in grief, and
1:21.6	then they try to rally the people to trust God, but their speech is far from effective. The people
1:23.0	to trust God, but their speech is far from effective.
1:27.0	The people wanted to stone them.
1:29.0	Fortunately, in the midst of the riot, God shows up.
1:33.6	But he does not have good news.
1:35.8	He wants to kill all the people and start over with Moses.
