| 0:18.9 | chronologically, we'll mostly have the Psalm sprinkled throughout our reading where they've been written as a response to what's happening at the time. |

| 0:29.3 | This is the only Psalm he wrote. |
| 0:32.0 | But before we get to that, let's talk about the situation he wrote it about. |
| 0:35.9 | Today in numbers the people are responding to the reports of the ten spies who argued that they couldn't take |
| 0:40.7 | the land of Canaan. This was a mess you guys. Because these |
| 0:44.5 | ten leaders were fearful, the whole camp is thrown into chaos. The people tried to |
| 0:48.7 | usurp God's authority by choosing a leader other than the one God had appointed |
| 0:52.2 | and by going where God wasn't leading, |
| 0:54.8 | back to Egypt. |
| 0:56.4 | This idea of going back to Egypt isn't just a theme for them. |
| 0:59.3 | It becomes a biblical metaphor for doubting God, turning away from Him, and living into ourselves. |
| 1:05.4 | As for the Israelites, their doubt has turned to fear, which prompted, rebellion. |
| 1:10.1 | If you don't bring your doubt to God, like we've seen Moses do repeatedly, your doubt will drive you from God. |
| 1:17.0 | So Moses and Aaron fall on their faces, Joshua and Caleb tear their clothes in grief, and then they try to rally the people to trust |
| 1:25.0 | God, but their speech is far from effective. |
| 1:28.3 | The people wanted to stone them. |
| 1:31.2 | Fortunately, in the midst of the riot, God shows up. |
| 1:34.8 | But he does not have good news. |
| 1:37.0 | He wants to kill all the people and start over with Moses. |
