0:07.0	Now that Moses has instructions from God about how to set up their society and they know
0:17.1	how to set up the camp properly, the next focus is on the service of the newly built
0:21.6	tabernacle in the wilderness. And that's what we looked at today.
0:24.8	Aaron and his two living sons, Eleazar and Ithamar, were the ones God established as the heads of
0:30.9	the tabernacle, and all the other people from their tribe, the Levites,
0:35.0	were there to help serve them and help them serve.
0:38.0	To bring some order and intention to the situation,
0:40.0	God calls for three different censuses.
0:43.1	The first census is directly related to something God has been working out for a while now.
0:47.8	Typically, the firstborn of each family would be consecrated and set apart for service to the
0:51.6	Lord, but here we see God calls the Levites his first. created and set apart for service to the Lord.
0:52.6	But here we see God calls the Levites his firstborn,
0:55.7	among all of Israel.
0:57.4	In 3.12, God says, I have taken the Levites
1:00.6	from among the people of Israel, instead of every firstborn who opens the womb
1:05.1	among the people of Israel. So God is making a kind of trade here, Levites in exchange for
1:10.9	firstborns. Each of the male Levites will serve as a representative or
1:15.1	a placement for each of the firstborns from all the other tribes. To make sure each
1:20.0	firstborn of Israel is represented by a male leavite.
1:23.5	They have to be counted too.
1:25.3	So Moses does census number two.
