Hey Bible readers, I'm Tara Lee Cobble, and I'm your host for the Bible Recap.

0:12.1

Yesterday, the Israelites found a great oasis that they stayed at for a while, but today they

0:16.8

continue their journey into the wilderness.

0:19.1

We're just 45 days out from God's miraculous

0:21.7

deliverance of them and they're already grumbling, wishing they were back in Egypt because the food

0:25.5

was better. But all these complaints against Moses are actually complaints against God. Moses knows

1:10.1

This bread from heaven was called

1:11.7

manna. And though it's not clearly marked out in the text, this bread seems to serve a threefold

1:16.4

purpose. It serves a practical purpose by feeding the people. It serves an eternal purpose by glorifying

1:21.8

God and revealing his power. And it serves a spiritual purpose by testing the people and training

1:27.1

them to trust God.

1:28.8

Will they obey the rules he sets up for how and when to gather the manna?

1:32.9

He says they're supposed to gather it every day except the Sabbath,

1:36.5

which is the Hebrew name for the seventh day of the week. It's what we call Saturday.
