0:13.1	Yesterday we saw Jacob preparing for his death at the age of 147 by asking his son Joseph
0:18.4	to make sure he was buried in Canaan, not Egypt.
0:22.2	Today we pick up with Jacob blessing Joseph's sons Ephraim and Manasseh before he dies.
0:28.0	Jacob recounts God's promises to him to give him many offspring and to give them the
0:32.0	land of Canaan and he refers to God by a name we've seen a few times, God Almighty.
0:38.2	This is translated from the Hebrew El Shaddai which loosely means God of the mountains.
0:44.0	One of the things we haven't talked about much but that's really important is that God's
0:47.8	names represent his character.
0:49.7	They tell us who he is and what he does.

1:06.8	Jacob continues his speech to Joseph and in it he does a peculiar thing.
1:11.2	He formally adopts Joseph's children as his own, possibly because he was robbed of having
1:16.3	Joseph in his life as a young boy but had gotten to spend many years with these children.
1:21.9	He compares Joseph's two oldest children to his two oldest children, Ruben and Simeon.
1:27.4	And while this feels a little weird to me, it's actually probably a generous move.
1:32.1	A way of establishing that these two boys will receive an inheritance from him along with
1:36.1	Joseph's brothers.
1:37.1	They will be heirs to the land and the promise.
