0:07.0	We continue to read Job's story today. He's just lost everything except his life and
0:18.0	today he had to listen to bad advice from the second of his three friends.
0:21.5	Yesterday we heard from Elphas, today we heard from Bill Dad. But first, we heard
0:26.7	Job's response to Elifaz. He defends himself. He's despairing, but he doesn't curse God.
0:33.0	He knows this pain isn't the result of sinful actions.
0:35.8	He knows his friends were wrong.
0:38.0	One of the questions counselors train you to ask yourself in relational difficulty
0:42.4	is,
0:43.0	where's my sin in this situation?
0:45.0	What can I own from this situation?
0:47.5	And that's an important question to ask,
0:49.6	especially because we're often blind to our own sin
0:52.1	and what we've contributed to this scenario, but there
0:54.6	are times when life is just hard, or when you've just been sinned against and your troubles
0:59.9	are not the result of something you contributed.
1:02.6	We would never tell someone who's been raped or physically abused
1:06.0	to think about what they did to deserve that or cause that.
1:09.0	It's not always true that our circumstances
1:12.3	and our problems are the result of our choices.
1:15.0	Sometimes they're the result of a fallen world.
1:18.0	Sometimes they're the result of other people's sinful choices.
