0:00.0	Hey Bible readers, I'm Tara Lee Cobble and I'm your host for the Bible recap.
0:07.0	Today in Genesis 8 through 11, we read about the aftermath of the Great Flood and everything
0:18.5	on earth has been destroyed except for eight people on the ark.
0:22.1	Noah, his wife, their three sons and their three wives, plus the animals.
0:27.7	Last Flood, we see God establishing this covenant with Noah that he had promised to establish
0:32.2	pre-flood and we see God engaging with this family of people and promising to be faithful
0:37.2	to them despite how every other aspect of their world has shifted dramatically.
0:42.5	Everyone that know is dead, the world is muddy and gross and they're living in a new
0:46.0	location, everything has changed.
0:49.4	Even their lifespan will change.
0:51.3	We read about this yesterday in Genesis 6-3, God gave them a little heads up not to expect
0:56.4	those crazy long lifespans anymore.
0:59.1	The environment had changed dramatically and they're a couple millennia removed from
1:03.5	the genetic perfection of Adam and Eve so it makes sense that they would drop to 120
1:08.6	years at this point.
1:10.8	Despite all these changes, God makes some promises to them of something that will not change.
1:16.6	He enters into this covenant with them promising that he will never again destroy the earth
1:20.5	with a flood.
1:22.6	Later in Scripture in 2 Peter 3, we find out that he will someday destroy the earth
1:26.3	with a fire but not with a flood.
1:29.3	And in the same way that the earth existed after it was destroyed by water because we're
1:33.2	standing on it right now, it will still exist after it's destroyed with fire.
