Hello and welcome to the scriptures a real podcast. This is the podcast where we talk about elements of the scriptures that are very real to us so that we can draw power into our lives from them. I'm your host, Kerry Mealstein, and this is another shortcast to help us go through this

0:25.5

storyline that's really the storyline of David at this point. That's what we're doing this week,

0:30.0

and we'll at the very end hit a little bit about Solomon. So let's jump in where we left off

0:35.4

in the last one. In the last short cast, we were talking about how Saul had died and now David is being anointed king.

0:44.3

But he's initially only anointed king over all of Judah.

0:47.2

So he's in Hebron.

0:48.3

Hebron is the place where Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph are buried.

1:29.7

David, he has a couple things going on here. One, this contest is somewhat between David and

1:39.8

Ish Bosheth, the son of Saul. Now, Ish Bosheth is not his real name, I'm guessing. And it's hard to know

1:48.2

what to do with names. So for example, David or David, it means beloved. And David is known as

1:56.7

being the beloved of the Lord. So is that a name that became his throne name? It wasn't his

2:01.0

original birth name. I don't know. That's possible. It's also quite possible that someone names

2:07.6

their child beloved, right? So I just don't know. But Ish Bosheth I feel more confident about
