He's a professional NASCAR driver who competed in 606 races in 13 years.

He recently retired from the sport. just a master of his craft named Rookie of the Year in 2007.

And here's the deal guys, I'm not a NASCAR fan.

I know barely anything about the sport.

I had no idea how this conversation was going to go,

but it ended up being a phenomenal episode and I'm so glad I have a new friend in David.

We recently sat down, we talked about how David's responding to

instances of racism in his sport, how disconnecting from all news and noise for

an entire week brought David tremendous clarity about retiring

from the sport that he loved for many many years and we talked about why he and his

wife set concrete measurable goals with their six and four year olds.
