From some point in the mid-2000s, he is conservative. And so we debated over whether his

theory, which is that journalists are responsible for the lack of journalistic trust.

What do you think of that?

I think it's a ridiculous thing that he should have been embarrassed to debate you on.

I won 23 to 16.

The thesis, the central thesis, it was sort of based on a column he wrote last week where he talked about how

democracy dies in darkness was a self-aggrandizing, Bon Mott cooked up by journalists, when in fact,

it was popularized by one, Jeff Bezos, very much not a stalwart of journalism.
