Hi, I'm Melissa Malano. And this is Sorry Not Sorry. So, The American Right is weaponizing state-sponsored and endorsed vigilantism in an effort

to impose Christian nationalism in the United States.

That's the argument John Michaels and David Noll make in their new book

Vigilantination, how State Sponsored Terror threatens our Democracy.

Noll, a professor of law at Rutgers University, joins us to discuss.

I have been so pleased to hear of all you vigilantes out there that want to camp out at these

drop boxes.

One faction in particular on the American right is giving up on some of the basic tenets of liberal democracy.

They're giving up on the rule of law and the nonviolent use of civic action to settle

political differences of turning towards much darker traditions.

The list of cases we just ran through there,

Kyle Rittenhouse, Ahmed Arbury's killers,

and the Charlottesville rally have another glaring thing in common.

The defendants in those cases are all white men. They created this

weird vigilante system whereby anybody in the country any random anti-abortion

crusader any nut anywhere has standing automatically to sue anybody in Texas who abets a woman

getting an abortion.
