recommend folks pick that up. And most recently, as the executive director of the National UFO Historical

Records Center, welcome back to the podcast, Mr. David Marler. Andy, thank you very much. And I want to thank you on two fronts before we get started. Thank you for your patience in trying to line up this interview. I know I've put you off for at least a year because of all the work we're doing here at the archive. So I want to thank you for your patience. But I also want to thank you for your hard work and dedication. I know I can't believe it's been since 2021, but your podcast has just exploded as far as popularity and widespread acceptance. And I want to thank you for the hard work. I know a lot of work goes into these things. It's not just people listening in that there's a lot of work behind the scenes to put these together. I just want to congratulate you on your success. No, thanks. And if people didn't listen or watch, then it's just me and you sit and chatting, which I'm sure would be fun anyway, but, you know, for the greater good and all that stuff. And yeah, we did talk back, I think it was like my 29th episode when I done it, and there's been over 670 at this point now, David. So hopefully this one is a little bit more polished. I do have a mild ear infection, folks, so apologies if I sound a bit ropy at any point. But yeah, I'm surviving, and I didn't want to pass this one up, because like I say, David's been a hard man to track down, but he's an incredibly

busy man. That's why, and people will have seen that online with the work you've been doing.

What I want to do first then is start with just a little bit of a background from you, David,

because you know yourself better than anyone, I'm sure. Who has David Marler and what's brought

him to the UFO dance?

Yeah, absolutely. It's a great question, kind of the origin story, right, Andy? And really,

my interest began at five years old is the first time I consciously remember hearing the term

UFO. My father was interested in UFOs, paranormal, Bermuda Triangle, Bigfoot, all of those things.

And so I dedicated my book to him because I really think he was my initial inspiration.

But in 1973, I was five years old.

There was a series of UFO sightings in a small town called Piedmont, Missouri, just south of St. Louis, Missouri,

where I was born and raised. And it had garnered a lot of media attention, both in newspaper,

as well as TV news. And many people down there were reporting UFOs. And I remember at the time,

and then in subsequent years, when my father and I would reflect back on it, the initial adult witness was a basketball coach coming back with the basketball team to Piedmont, Missouri.

And his name was Reggie Bone. And I remember my father saying, if Reggie said he saw something, you could take that to the bank.

And what I didn't realize until later in life,

they were best friends growing up. My father originated from the Piedmont area, a small town called

Millspring, Missouri, right next door to Piedmont. And I remember my father saying that. And then,
