indifference, which is what they pitch, and this is how they wrote people in. I'm your host,

Scott Bertram, and that's David Azarad, our first guest on today's program. David is

assistant professor and research fellow at Hillsdale College's Van Andal Graduate School of Government

in Washington, D.C.

We talk at length today with David about identity politics at this time and the effect they're having on the 2020 race.

David, thanks so much for joining us.

It's a pleasure to be back.

Talking today a bit more about identity politics, this is one of the areas that you concentrate your studies on as a research fellow

at Hillsdale in D.C. We've seen the 2020 campaign unfold somewhat. How have you seen

these ideas of identity politics insert themselves into our conversations thus far?

Well, I can't say that much is coming from the Biden campaign because it doesn't

seem to me that he's campaigning all that much, that he's mostly hold up at home, reading

from teleprompters, not handling questions, and is kind of a bit AWOL. Where it really has hit the

country, I think, is in the post-Floid hysteria,

the violence of Black Lives Matter and Antifa, of course, joining in.

And the general mood in the climate and the rhetoric on race relations, these claims that, you know,

basically it's as if the police were shooting black people with immunity and for sports,

that there is no justice, that, you know, Benjamin Crump, the kind of new lawyer of racial grievance who jumps onto these cases,

he was Trayvon Martin's family's lawyer.
