Summary

David Axelrod has run political campaigns from Chicago to Washington to the U.K., and he’s best known as the chief strategist for both of Barack Obama’s Presidential campaigns. Since leaving the White House, Axelrod has become a podcaster, a CNN commentator, the director of the Institute of Politics at the University of Chicago, and, most recently, a New Yorker contributor. He recently wrote a profile of Theo Epstein, the wunderkind baseball manager who turned the Boston Red Sox into a winning team. Epstein is now attempting the same with the Chicago Cubs. David Remnick speaks to him about this season’s two great contests— the Presidential election and the World Series.
