It's time for the Soterology 101 podcast, where God is most glorified by his love and provision for all

0:08.4

people. Welcome your host, the director of apologetics for Texas Baptists, an adjunct professor of

0:15.0

theology, and a local teaching pastor, Dr. Layton Flowers. Welcome to Striology 101. Today you're going to be hearing from

0:23.3

Dr. David Allen as he refutes the claims of Dr. James White in regard to the atonement. Many of you

0:31.3

are aware that there was some back and forth on Twitter, well, at least some back. I don't know if

0:37.1

there was some fourth and back,

0:38.2

or there was at least one-way conversations going on, whereas Dr. White was responding to some

0:43.3

of Dr. Allen's tweets with regard to the atonement in his view of the atonement. And James White

response, if you read this, he doesn't even address the actual point that Dr. Allen brings up here,

1:18.8

which I think is telling. Now, Dr. Allen has written over an 800-page book on the extent of the

1:24.6

atonement that we're going to look at. Many of you know, Dr. Allen,

1:28.0

he's served as a dean of the School of Theology at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary

1:31.3

and Fort Worth for over 12 years. He's currently the dean of the school of preaching.

1:34.9

He's a distinguished professor of preaching. He's the, as far as I'm concerned, the leading

1:38.4

proponent with regard to the traditional view of atonement from our particular perspective of traditionalist

1:47.3

sociology. And Dr. White has not been silent, obviously, on his disagreement with traditionalists

1:54.3

over our view of the atonement. Keeping in mind, however, that our view of the atonement is held

1:59.8

by some within the reformed
