Well, I tell you what, it is a thrill to be here in the serious action radio studios here in L.A.

And particularly excited to have someone who is joining me who is an exemplary manager,

but more importantly, an exemplary human being.

I met Dave Roberts, I believe for the first time in 2015, when you were coaching with the Padres and my friend Dave Winfield.

That's right.

That's right.

Hosted.

And he did this for 10 years.

Hosted one of the best salutes to the Negro leagues at Petco, right?

That anyone was doing.

And I got to meet you and some of the other folks there involved with the organization who had all their old Negro League players out and you know I could see then that it was very

genuine for you as you were interacting with those players it was it was and um you know it's one of

those things where coming up I didn't know enough about

the Negro leagues. And I'm a history major. I went to UCLA. And you can't really appreciate what's

ahead of you or what you're doing in real time if you don't know how you got there.

And so Dave Winfield's a friend of mine is yours, as well as yours, Bob.

And so just to be a part of that and talk to players that played in the Negro

leagues and kind of befriend them and shake their hands and hear some stories,

it just, I just was a sponge.

I couldn't get enough of it.
