First, though, I'm joined by my automotive news colleague Molly Boygan for a look at this week's

headlines in transportation technology. Molly, how are you today?

I'm doing well, thanks, Pete. How are you? I'm doing good. Obviously, I think you have been busy

lately tracking a lot of moves that the Trump administration has made as they relate to the auto industry

overall, electric vehicles in particular.

What's the latest?

Yeah, so there have been a few moves that the Trump administration has made

of varying degrees of actual substance.

So probably the most interesting is the executive order called Unleashing American Energy, which contains a provision

that claims to pause the disbursement of funding under the IRA and the bipartisan infrastructure

law. So a story that I wrote this week sort of addresses some of the claims that Trump has made

about EVs and about his

constitutional authority to do different things regulating the automotive industry.

And the long story short about this executive order is that these funds have been

obligated to projects by an act of Congress.

And so he doesn't really have the authority to pause the disbursement of funds.

There's, there's a rule that basically says explicitly, actually inspired by some executive

overreach from the Nixon administration that says that once funds have been earmarked for a
