I went to see a play, actually. Oh, did you? Yes, called Teeth and Smiles. Have you heard of it? Oh, I have heard of that. Remind me, then. Well, so it's an early David Hareplay.

0:21.1

In fact, I think it's his first play that he ever wrote.

0:24.3

And it's set in 1969 at a Cambridge ball,

0:28.4

and it's a rock band that are playing.

0:30.9

And it's about the sort of clash of class.

0:34.9

It's about the death of innocence in rock.

0:38.5

It's a little bit dated because of all of that.

0:40.6

Because obviously it would have been contemporary at the time.

0:43.3

But it's led by Rebecca Lucy Taylor, who is self-esteem and very successful artist

0:51.1

in her own right.

0:52.1

And she is absolutely brilliant in it.

0:54.9

I mean, not just as a singer because they have,

0:58.6

there's kind of rock folly's vibe about it,

1:00.8

but they have six songs written by Nick B-Cat wrote them.

1:07.0

And she wrote one and added it to the pot.

1:14.6

And the band play. And they're all the actors and musicians so they all play on stage and what sort of band is it yeah 70th 1969 kind of bluesy kind of you know she's like

1:22.3

who was that singer the real singer maggie Maggie. Maggie Bell. She's like a Maggie Bell type

1:29.7

singer, right? So, and she's fighting against drugs and drink. But she's a great. She acts so

1:35.9

well in it. It's really impressive. And it's just nice to go and see a play about rock music.

1:41.5

Yeah, we're a good one, not like the last one I saw. But it's funny you say that, because that is a little point, isn't it? Because there was that thing of the Oxford and Cambridge Balls. There's all these great, remember the Who did the Oxford Ball in 1967. And it was an absolute thing that it was big bands who would do it. Be bands with top 10 hits would go and do these Oxford balls.

2:01.6

And again, you're right. But then, see, but the whole point of the 60s was that absolute blurring and breaking down of class boundaries. That's kind of what it was about, wasn't it? The Toff's wanted to all hang out with the kids from Shep was Bush. Yeah. Yeah, no, no. So I think it gets a bit lost on a self-esteem audience, maybe, a modern audience, you know. Yeah. Who can't, you know, wouldn't. And the only thing that really annoyed me. Because actually my mate is in it. Yeah, Phil Daniels. And, um, you know, who I had my first band with. and uh quad, quadruine in fame, obviously. Yeah. And he plays her manager and he does a brilliant job. Like in Breaking Glass. But the only thing I don't, I was, I was cross about. And it does get me is when the clothes are wrong. It's like, it's 19609 and the bass players wearing glam rock outfit or yeah yeah no i hates the fact talking of which

2:53.5

we have someone famously who wears glam rock favorite yeah and outfits and matching and glam rock
