Summary

Dave Barry's sense of humor should be on display at the Smithsonian; it is truly one America's great treasures. His latest novel, Swamp Story, is set in the back woods of the Florida Everglades. That's all we are going to tell you, because the plot is so wonderfully wild, you wouldn't believe us anyway. Join us while Dave makes us laugh, and then stick around for our conversation with Mitchell Kaplan at Books & Books. As a Florida bookseller, he has important things to say about why bookstores are on the frontlines in the fight against book bans. we have a real treat. I think Dave Barry is something of a national treasure. We need humor

0:32.6

more and more these days. And Dave Barry has been, I think, one of the funniest Americans around for years

1:11.3

that he's a very careful plotter, that he knows exactly where he's going to go and how he's

1:15.9

going to get there, which is interesting because his plots are crazy outlandish. But he creates

1:21.4

these situations that are outlandish, but he believes he has to try to make them believable

for his reader. And that's really important
