My name is Caitlin Durante.

My name is Jamie Loftus and this is our podcast where for 10 years we have taken a look

at your favorite movies using an intersectional feminist lens using the Bechdel test as a jumping off point for discussion.

But Caitlin, what is it?

I do think like sometimes I'm like, I can describe the Bechdel test with ease.

But then every once in a while, if I'm having an off day, I'm like, wait, what is it?

And today's one of those days. So what is it?

Well, we'll take care of you. Thank you. But yes, the, the Bechtel test is a mediometric created by our dear, dear friend, Alison Bechtel.

It appeared in her comic, Dikes to Watch Out for in the 80s originally.

It has since been used as a more mainstream media metric that has many versions of it.

The one that we use requires that two characters of a marginalized gender have names.

They speak to each other.

And their conversation has to be about something other than a man.
