The trial for a Texas man accused of murdering a Houston couple and their six-year-old daughter got underway with a surprise.

Do you still wish to proceed in pleading guilty to this jury?

Yes, sir.

Xavier Davis, 32, entered a guilty plea to capital murder charges in the deaths of Gregory Carhe 35,

Donia Langway, 29, and the couple's six-year-old daughter, Harmony.

Police say Davis forced his way into the family's apartment, shooting the couple in front of three of their children.

Six-year-old Harmony was shot in the head. Her older sister,

Ten, shot in the arm, pretended to be dead, listening as the killer facetimed an accomplice.

After Davis left the home, their surviving daughter locked the door and began calling family

members for help while trying to protect and comfort her baby brother. That child was the

only person. That child was the one person Davis did not shoot. Say police. Another eight-year-old boy

was not home at the time. Harris County DA Shontieri praised the 10-year-old's actions.

It's amazing. And what she did to get helping,

I don't think that there are many adults out here

that could have done what she did.

And then to have, you know,

the mental capacity to call her grandparents

and her uncle to get help there for herself

and her little brother.
