Summary

On today’s episode, I’m joined by Blaine Anderson, aka Dating by Blaine, who is a dating coach for men. We hear about the biggest challenges men face in modern dating, ways men are misunderstood in dating, and how Blaine ended up helping men with their dating lives. Blaine shares tips for dating apps profiles, approaching a woman IRL, sliding into her DMs, and texting etiquette. We answer listener questions about exclusivity, having needs vs. being needy, burnout, and sifting through matches.

Hey guys, it's Alana and welcome back for another episode of seeing other people.

0:14.0

So I want to try doing something in these intros.

0:17.0

I know I post a ton of content on seeing the people on Instagram and a big thing that I love to do is post tweets and then post them on the feed and hopefully hear your guys's responses and thoughts on them.

0:29.1

But I thought it'd be fun if I actually talked a little bit more about some of these tweets because I think some of them are really powerful statements and obviously they can be

0:37.5

fun and we can laugh at them sometimes. But some of them, I think there's a lot to take away. And

0:43.6

the one I want to start with today is that you have to let go of someone who is okay with losing you.

0:50.7

I posted this one earlier in January. And I think that this is something that is so

0:57.8

incredibly difficult to do and that's why I wanted to talk about it because letting go of someone

1:04.0

who's okay with losing you, first of all, if we break it down, we have to think about the fact

1:10.3

that there's somebody that we

1:11.5

want in our lives that is ready to walk away from us or no longer wants to prioritize us or no longer

1:20.5

wants to be in a relationship with us or does not want to get into a relationship with us.

1:25.8

And that's somebody that we've invested time and we've invested our

1:29.3

energy into. We feel connected to and we really feel something for. And maybe it's somebody that we're

1:35.4

in love with. Maybe it's somebody that we saw a future with. And to know that they are ready to walk

1:42.9

away from that. They're ready to walk away from the plans that you made.

1:45.5

They're ready to lose you and they're okay with that.

1:48.5

It's really, really painful.

1:50.8

Even before we get to the letting go of them part,

1:53.9

knowing that somebody is okay with losing you

1:56.2

is I think one of the most painful things that we go through.
