It's the summer of 2017. Simon sits on a park bench watching his friend Noodle's the clown entertain a bunch of kids at a birthday party.

Noodle's real name is Bernice. The show is winding up.

Hey, Bernice, over here. She spots Simon in waves. Her face is painted white and she's wearing a red nose the size of a golf ball.

She motions for Simon to follow her out of sight from the kids. Her giant shoes slap the ground as the friends ambelotable park bench and sit down. She pulls out a cigarette.

Now I get to go home to my cat. I'll be honest. I'm tired of being single. No luck with the apps? Nah. I tried Tinder, Bumble, Match, and OKCupid, but I can't find anyone I'm compatible with.

I mean, I'm a professional clown. What guy's into that?

Bernice pulls off her wild-haired green wig and plucks off the red nose. She turns to Simon.

So, how's your love life? Great. I had just met my dream girl. Smart, gorgeous, and a total trekky like me. What? Yeah. I met her on trek dating. It's specifically for star trek fiends.

There's all kinds of sights these days, no matter what you're into. Right. I'm sure they have one for clowns who smoke.

Simon pulls out his phone and does a quick search. Hey, you're in luck, Bernice.

She grabs his phone to take a look. Clown dating? No way.

The major players like Tinder with its 50 million users dominate the dating app industry, but many users have become exhausted by all the swiping, bad dates and ghosting.

It all seems so scatter shot. Many want something more focused. And they're all a quick click away.

Laser focused apps like Muzzmatch for Muslims, Mouse Mingle for Disney fans, Twin Dog for Canine lovers, Sizzle for Bacon and Fiscanados, Bristle for Beard Enthusiasts, and Dead Meat for morticians and other death professionals.

And that's just a sampling of the dozens of sights catering to unique preferences.

While niche sites are thriving by thinking small, the mainstream apps are going big, drawing in millions more singles with slick innovations.

But before long, accusations fly that those so-called innovations deserve another name. Stealing.
