1:28.7

Do players get amped up for it? I know baseball is promoting rivalry weekend. It's a big thing they got sponsored, booking.com, rivalry weekend, major league baseball. But how do players feel about it? Well, of course, players get pumped for it. You know, you're in New York City. You're the Yankees, you're the Mets. You're fighting for the city. You're fighting for the reputation of who you are and which team is better. But does it make the season early in the year? No. But it's fun. It's fun for the fans, and I think that's what's important. The fans get to be able to come out early to see their two teams playing. One is not playing so well, and one is playing well. But it's always like, it's not how you start, it's how you finish the season. And that's really what's important. You can get off to a great start and you can finish in a bad way. You can get off to a slow start and finish in a good way. But there's the juice in the building. And you guys, you guys do feed off that, right?

1:46.7

Well, of course you feed off of that. Why wouldn't you feed off of that when you're playing against the team right across town and you're looking at them and saying the most important thing, I used to always say, well, I didn't play in it, but I would say to myself, we're about to beat the brakes off. I was going to ask you because obviously you didn't play much in 97.

2:01.2

Were you part of it when they first year? I was wondering what it was like, especially for you, with the history with the Mets, then with the Yankees in 97 when it started the interleague play. I thought that must have been an interesting dynamic for you. I played a little bit, but I had a bad knee.

2:01.6

Yeah. I wasn't playing much. But what was it like when Major League Baseball made the announcement and Mets and Yankees were going to play every single year and the rivalry was going to have a different take from that moment on? I think it's very special. Yeah. It's an opportunity, like I said, more than anything, to represent your side of town anything. I think players have to respect that. You have to respect the other team, but you have to go in there with the attitude is we want to win. We do not want to lose to you guys. You know, that's a big thing. A lot of people say for the Mets, oh, this is the Mets World Series. You know, you beat the Yankees, Oh, New York. Because you're not going to win the real world series.

2:34.8

This is what people say.

2:35.5

I don't know.

2:36.5

This is what people out there say.

2:37.7

Oh, that's not fair to say.
