As far as the day was concerned, I thought Darrell was amazing.

I did.

I thought it was a great great speech.

All the thank you's, the thing he said about, his biggest regret was leaving the New York Mets and I was so young when he left as a free agent

You know I remember the names, but it was before I was like watching and scoring like I don't have any

scorecard of Darrell Strawberry is in New York men I wish I did I don't but I

remember when he left and it being so weird and surreal that Darrell Strawberry, the face of this team, would go to the LA Dodgers.

And then as I started getting into baseball and understanding baseball, much like I felt with

Doc, I always wanted the Mets to write the wrong, to bring him back. I thought there were more opportunities

with Doc couldn't bring him back.

He was so readily available.

But they never did.

They never brought Doc back, they never brought Darrow back.

Luckily they brought them back when they closed Shay Stadium at the end of the 2008 season.

Both of those guys were there and I think it may have been their returns like the first times they were

back. You know obviously not as opponents or, you know, playing for the Yankees or what have you.

But his speech was beautiful. I thought that it was, you know, thinking about him saying my biggest regret was leaving

business nobody can blame somebody I can't at least I will never blame somebody for taking more money or more years to go somewhere else. It's a business

We all have to ask ourselves those same questions like would we go to a different company or a different business or move somewhere if another company offered us more money and the truth is most of us would say yes. So I'd even

begrudge Darrell Strawberry, not at the time I was too young, but certainly now.
