Summary

It probably sounds really scary when you get to the eligible age for Medicare.

Many people get used to their group insurance and think that stepping onto a Government program will mean that their coverage will be worst.

But that is absolutely not the case. The coverage can be wonderful to use and Danielle is here to explain the benefits of Medicare. On today’s episode, she is going to share with us her knowledge of how Medicare works, what advantages you have on enrollment, and when should you start looking into it and understanding what’s best for you.

Danielle is an insurance expert, who writes regularly for many online publications, including Forbes where she is a member of the Finance Council. She's a TCU Journalism graduate and former magazine editor, and she enjoys sharing her knowledge about Medicare, retirement, and insurance, so that baby boomers can prepare for the cost of healthcare in retirement.

She regularly appears as a guest expert on healthcare podcasts and radio shows and Danielle is the co-founder of Boomer Benefits.

So, listen to Episode 11 of Rejuvenaging, to learn about the benefits of Medicare and how you can properly create an insurance plan for yourself.

Questions I ask:

  • Just from a practical standpoint, aren't all the insurance companies competing for the same population? Why should there be variations among plans? (07:22)
  • Is Medicare always the better deal than insurance that you can get in the marketplace? (12:48)
  • Is wellness a consideration in any of these plans? (16:21)
  • What are some of the mistakes that people make? (23:40)
  • Looking at your background, how did you get into this field? (33:52)

In this episode, you will learn:

  • About the Medicare enrollment period. (03:01)
  • The ancillary benefits that Medicare provides. (17:55)
  • What “Zero Premium” means. (18:33)
  • Danielle’s advice to anyone new to Medicare. (28:05)
  • About the connection between Social Security and Medicare. (32:25)
