My guest today is ruthlessly practical.

You know him as the author of six, maybe seven, I think six, kind of six, very provocative

books about business and human behavior.

I first came into Dan Pink's work with his book called A Whole New Mind.

The subtitle for that is why right brainers will rule the future.

And if you don't know your right brain from your left brain, the right brain is the creative side, so to speak.

I think they may have debunked the right brain, left brain thing since that concept was originally introduced. But a whole new mind really shifted my belief in what was possible for creativity. You know, and when I wrote creative calling, it was very much about how to expand the definition of creativity. And I will confess that a whole new mind was a really influential and key part of framing that. And,

you know, back in 2008, Oprah Winfrey gave away 4,500 copies of this book to the Stanford

University graduating class when she gave the keynote because it's such a profound book

that helps us understand the future and the power of creativity. So of course, you know that I would subscribe to anything that Dan Pink put out.

It's a fantastic conversation that we have today on the show.

As I mentioned, there's a handful of other books.

I won't dive into them now because we touch on each of them across the arc of today's show.

But again, as I mentioned early, Dan is a ruthlessly practical thinker,

and he takes his creativity, puts us through what I envisioned is this, this sieve, this ruthlessly

practical sieve, and then you get the, you get maximum creativity and maximum practicality,

which is one of the reasons he's so prolific and is incredibly

inspiring and helpful for those of us who find ourselves either shoegazing or staring at

the stars a little bit too much, when we really ought to be doing is getting to work.
