A New York jury has found Marine veteran Daniel Penny not guilty in the death of Jordan Neely.

The decision prompted strong celebration from Penny's supporters, but also protests from left-wing

activists that erupted outside after the verdict was announced.

No justice, no peace.

Penny had originally faced a second-degree manslaughter charge, which carried a 15-year prison

sentence.

However, the judge agreed to dismiss that charge on Friday at the prosecution's

request. The jury on Monday rendered a not guilty verdict on the remaining charge of criminally negligent

homicide. Elvin Bragg's office controversially charged Penny last year after the then 25-year-old

restrained Jordan Neely on the subway. Neely, a troubled man with a history

of mental health issues and a lengthy rap sheet, had a pulse when authorities arrived unseen, but

later died. Lawyers representing Penny said that their client acted to protect others from Neely,

who was threatening subway riders and had a history of violent behavior.

An American woman has been arrested after stabbing a migrant man in Germany.

She says it was self-defense after the man sexually assaulted her at a train station.
