It's called Inheritance, a memoir of genealogy, paternity and love, and it debuted this week

on The New York Times Best Seller List.

So this book begins with a very particular incident, which is took place in 2016,

which was when you did what many Americans have thought about doing or have done,

which is you went to a genealogy website and what happened then?

Well, what happened, and I should say that it was pure whimsy on my part.

It was like recreation or DNA exploration.

My husband was doing it himself and asked me if I wanted to.

And I could so easily have said no.

That haunts me sometimes, because instead I said, you know, sure why not?

And I submitted my DNA.

And when the results came back a couple of months later, they were peculiar.
