real presence in your life. Well, maybe you've heard me mention recently that I picked up A.W.

Tozer's book, Knowledge of the Holy. To read again, it's been a long time since I read it the last time.

Something jumped out at me yesterday. You know, Tozer wrote that God and all of his majesty

chose to disclose himself to us through the person of Jesus Christ.

Well, that's obviously not new information if you read the Bible, but it was revelatory to think

afresh. You know, if you wonder what God is like, what he cares about, what makes him angry,

who he's quick to defend, who look at the person of Jesus Christ. So how do you suppose Jesus

feels about sinners and suffers? Does he roll his eyes? Does he breathe a heavy sigh? Or does he

see us with compassion and love? And how does Christ's heart fit in with what we find in the Old

Testament portrait of God? Well, Dr. Dane Ortland joins me today to explore these topics. Talk about

his book, Gentle and Lonely,

time, and I read a handful of books every week. The title again is Gentle and Lonely, the Heart of
