How close have you ever come to death?

Not just in movies and books and TV, but in the real world.

When you lose someone close to you

or if you have a brush with death of your own,

the tragedy and pain can be overwhelming.

I've held hands with death way too often over the years

and the experience has certainly had an effect on me.

In fact, I made a movie about it.

In writing the bullet based on Stephen King's short story of the same name,

a young art student with a penchant for the dark side

gets a call that his mother has had a stroke,

and he has to hitchhike home to see her.

He's picked up by what may well be the messenger of death itself
