Wrongly convicted of the murder of three boys in West Memphis, Arkansas.

Damien Eccles was sentenced to prison where he spent more than 18 years on death row

before DNA evidence led to his release in 2011. Eddie Vedder, Patty Smith, The Dixie Chicks, and film producer Peter Jackson, who campaigned

for Eccles release in full pardon. Several films have documented the story, including Jackson's highly acclaimed west of Memphis.

During his incarceration, rather than giving in to anger or bitterness, Damien saw his time in prison as an opportunity

to deepen his practice of her medic magic.

In this episode of Insights at the Edge, Damien and I spoke about how he maintained the

integrity of his soul in prison, including suffering brutal beatings at the hands of the prison guards and spending more than 10 years in solitary confinement.

We also talked about his recent coming out, if you will, as a magician, and what it means

to him to follow in a contemporary way the Western hermetic path of magic. Damien led us in a guided practice of magic that he calls the middle pillar.

And we discussed magic and manifestation, and how Damien practiced magic up to eight hours a day while

he was in prison and how he learned through trial and error the techniques he teaches today.
