The Dallas Mavericks have picked the location for their next arena. Why does it matter? Where is it? And more on today's one more thing of Lockdown Maps.

You are locked on the Dallas Mavericks. This is one of your host, Isaac Harris, covering the mass for the last 10 years alongside my good friend, Nick Engstead. And today I'm talking about the Mavericks recent announcement about where they're

going to build the new arena. The Mavericks are set for their lease to expire at the American Airlines

Center in downtown Dallas in 2013. And they've been looking for a location for a while of like

where they're going to build their next massive arena.

Patrick Dumont and the ownership group want to build an entertainment district,

a new arena, just all the stuff, all right.

And they've been looking at it. They nailed it down to two spots, an undisclosed location downtown city hall in downtown Dallas. If they were going to tear that down and

build arena there and everything or this valley view this old valley view mall site

as this other option and on june 1st the mavericks officially announced that they have

selected the valley view site for for the next home of their arena.

In a press release, the Maverick said, after seriously studying and considering several options,

while working closely with the city of Dallas to identify possible locations for a new Mavericks Arena and Entertainment District,

the Mavericks organization

has entered into option agreements for the potential purchase of approximately 104 acres

at the former Valley View Mall site. Now, it is 104 acres. They've been pretty open that

they wanted at least 50 acres to do what they wanted to do.

And they're getting double that.

So let's see what else they do.
