When a person is being saved, before they're saved, as an unbeliever, the the spirit begins to draw there's the effectual call

to salvation before regeneration faith and repentance the call of the spirit effectual drawing

in this drawing a person becomes profoundly aware that god is holy and that they're a wretch and that they are a dead man

walking underneath his just condemnation. And this fear begins to drive them to the cross.

And this fear is not cruel. It's not mean spirited. It's grace. Remember Amazing Grace

by John Newton? You could probably recite it by heart, but most people professing Christ today

don't even have a clue what it actually means. Remember the line, twas grace that taught my heart

to fear. And grace grace my fears relieved how many

people is this their testimony not just grace made me happy and gave me purpose

that's most people's testimony or even worse than that grace helped me to be more

successful and healthy and wealthy and wise right or no great's not not the

cruelty of God grace of God his grace his love his mercy made me miserable and

taught my heart to fear made me recognize that I was a condemned

sinner underneath his just wrath that I was a dead man walking it made me realize my guilt

but then grace led me to the cross

where eventually those fears were relieved.
