Adam and Eve broke all of God's law. All 11 commandments, 10 natural laws, and one positive

law.

And the result was catastrophic.

Verse 17.

Before we proceed, notice that in verse 14 of our text,

death is actually represented.

It's personified by Paul as a king.

Death reigned from Adam to Moses. So how is it that death exercises his dominion

over all the inhabitants of the earth? Death reigns by sin and Satan reigns by both death

and sin. These empires rise and fall together. Notice that in Job, chapter 18, verse 14,

Bildad actually refers to death as the king of terrors.

And a formidable king, death is.

The dominion of death is massive.

And the dread of death is terrible,

especially among those who are separate from Christ. The dread of death, the fear of death is terrible, especially among those who are separate from Christ.

The dread of death, the fear of death is terrible for all people, but especially those who are

apart from Christ. Hebrews chapter 2, verse 14 through 15 illustrates this point. It says,
